Jon Arden appointed Technical Aviation Advisor to DECC - February 2010
Jon Arden has been appointed as the Technical Aviation Advisor to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). He will be working closely with all aviation stakeholders on assisting DECC in delivering the mitigation workstreams identified by the Aviation Plan. The Aviation Plan captures the mitigation workstreams identified by the Aviation Advisory Panel (AAP) which has representation from MoD, BWEA, the Airport Operator Association, the Civil Aviation Authority, Department for Transport, Scottish Government, The Crown Estate and NATS En Route. As part of his role Jon has taken over as Chairman of the AAP.
Osprey awarded major airport contract - February 2010
Osprey have been awarded a major contract to provide all safety management support to a multi-million pound development of London Southend Airport. Working for Systems Interface Ltd, we will develop a range of safety cases and regulatory documents to support a major upgrade of Communications, navigation and Surveillance systems. The Project involves a new ATC tower and is being run in parallel with an exciting redevelopment of the airport, which will include an on-site train station, new terminal and a hotel.
Osprey continue relationship with HIAL - February 2010
Osprey have been awarded a contract by HIAL relating to the procurement of a number of systems across the airport group. This follows on from HIAL’s successful introduction of a new Thales PSR/SSR to Inverness Airport, which Osprey supported with Safety Case and Flight Trial management expertise. One element of the new contract involves the procurement of new VCCS’ for Inverness, Kirkwall and Sumburgh Airports. Our work includes the development of a procurement specification, guidance on the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) processes, tender assessment and preparation of contractor selection recommendations.
Osprey support Communications upgrade
Working with Systems Interface Limited, Osprey have been appointed to develop a safety case for a new VCCS at City of Derry Airport.
RHADS and LJLA PSR’s gain approval - September 2009
Peel Airports have recently gained regulatory approvals for new Radar Systems at Robin Hood Airport Sheffield Doncaster (RHADS) and Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA). This was a highly complex project, which included transmission of PSR data, from RHADS, to LJLA, integration with remote SSR feeds provided by NATS and introduction of new Radar Display Processors featuring the first UK application of a Microsoft XP Operating System. Part of the Project Team with Cyrrus Limited, Osprey were responsible for safety cases for both systems.
Jon Arden joins BWEA Aviation Strategy group - August 2009
Jon has accepted an invitation to join the British Wind Energy Associations (BWEA) Aviation Strategy Group (ASG).
Osprey to manage LBIA wind farms - September 2009
Leeds/Bradford International Airport have recently appointed Osprey CSL to manage all matters relating to wind farms on their behalf. Osprey will liaise with developers about potential sites and advise LBIA on potential impact and available mitigation. Mr David Smillie (Head of Airside Ops and Safety) commented ‘the proliferation of wind farms, in line with Government targets, is causing an increasing management burden to Airports. Osprey bring significant domain expertise and remove the burden at minimal cost.
